Cookie Policy

Our Simple Approach to Cookies
PDFOutfit takes a minimal approach to cookies and browser storage. Because we process files client-side and don't use accounts, we have no need for most traditional cookies.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your web browser. They're commonly used to remember login information, preferences, and track user behavior across websites.
PDFOutfit does not use traditional tracking cookies.
Browser Storage We Use
Local Storage (Not Cookies)
PDFOutfit uses browser localStorage to temporarily store data needed for PDF processing. This includes:
- File data during processing: Your uploaded files are temporarily held in browser memory
- Tool preferences: Settings you choose (like page size or quality options)
- UI state: Interface preferences for your convenience
Important: This data never leaves your device. It's stored locally in your browser and is automatically cleared when you close the tab or navigate away.
What We DON'T Use
We don't use cookies for login because we have no accounts. We don't track you across the web.
Hosting Infrastructure
Vercel CDN
PDFOutfit is hosted on Vercel's global content delivery network (CDN). Vercel may use technical cookies for:
- Routing traffic to the nearest server for fast load times
- DDoS protection and security
- Load balancing
These are essential technical cookies that enable the website to function. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for more details.
Analytics
We may collect basic, anonymous analytics about page views and tool usage to understand how PDFOutfit is used and improve the service.
- We use privacy-focused analytics that don't track individuals
- No persistent cookies for user identification
- Data is aggregated and anonymous
- No cross-site tracking or user profiling
Your Control Over Cookies and Storage
Browser Controls
You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings:
- Block all cookies (may affect site functionality)
- Clear cookies and local storage at any time
- Use private/incognito browsing
- Configure cookie preferences
Do Not Track
We respect browser "Do Not Track" signals. Since we don't track users anyway, enabling DNT doesn't change PDFOutfit's behavior.
Why No Cookie Banner?
You may have noticed we don't show a cookie consent banner. That's because:
- We only use essential technical storage for the service to function
- We don't use tracking, advertising, or non-essential cookies
- Browser localStorage is cleared automatically when you leave
- No persistent tracking across sessions or sites
Under most privacy regulations (including GDPR), essential technical cookies don't require explicit consent when they're strictly necessary for the service to work.
Data Security
Since PDFOutfit stores data locally in your browser rather than using server-side cookies:
- Your file data never crosses the network
- There's no server-side session to hijack
- Your documents stay private and secure on your device
- Clearing browser data removes all PDFOutfit storage
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as PDFOutfit evolves or if we add new features. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
We'll notify users of significant changes to cookie usage.
